Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) Policy Great Plains OSHA Education Center (GPOEC) is offering Virtual, Instructor-Led Training (VILT) to help meet training needs during the pandemic. VILT training is a new format authorized by OSHA’s Directorate of Training and Education (DTE). It consists of virtual training using a synchronous video-conference format. These ‘Live’ classes simulate a traditional classroom environment with real-time interaction between all participants. DTE has restricted attendees of VILT classes to those individuals within the respective region of the OSHA Education Center holding the class. Consequently, those attending GPOEC VILT courses must live or work in Region VII (MO, KS, IA, NE), documented with a physical address. An exception is made for those individuals who are currently authorized trainers through GPOEC. In this instance, registration is allowed for trainer update courses (OSHA 502, 503). Most OSHA Education Centers are offering VILT courses below is a list of OSHA Education Centers in Region V (IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI) and Region VI (AR, LA, TX, OK, NM). OSHA also has a searchable database of courses offered available at: https://www.osha.gov/dte/ecd/course_otiec_search_public.html We realize this policy may adversely affect some clients, particularly those seeking Professional Certifications. SLU will temporarily accept courses taken outside Region VII for the completion of Professional Certifications for those who have already started their Certifications by taking classes with GPOEC. We are all looking forward to having you back on campus for in-person classes when we can safely offer a full schedule of traditional courses.
